MINUTES

OCTOBER 2009

The LCAA met on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6 pm.  Nice refreshments were served by Linda Stanger and Mary Jo Cannedy.

Oakleigh Westfall started the meeting at 6:30 pm with the Treasurer's Report.  We are very close to being broke.  Things will get better soon.  He announced several works of art had sold:  Robert Allen, Jo Jones, Linda Taylor and Dottie Sherwood were the artists.

No report from the scrapbook committee.

Discussion about redoing the web-site.  Mary Jo reported that changes would be made soon.

Tonie thanked Mary Jo for the help in getting out the newsletter and hopes that the problem is solved now that she has a new laptop.

Nominations for the 2010 slate of officers was discussed and will be announced at the November meeting.  We need nominees for President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer and one 3 year board member.

Drawings for the coloring book and museum are needed.  A good start has been accomplished but many scenes are still needed.

Mary Jo sent letters to Chamber members asking for sponsors for our Association.  There was discussion about our status as a

non-profit organization and if we should apply for our 501C3.

Art supplies from Johnnie Ringle's estate were donated to the LCAA. It was decided that what didn't sell this evening would be placed in our auction in January.  Thanks to Mary Guthrie and Robert Allen for bringing these items in and for storing them for us.

Members enjoyed a display of art work from the North Lawrence Community Schools made available by Tracy Isom.  We have a large amount of artistic talent coming up!

Please bring your biographies and digital pictures for our information book and web-site.

The Meet the Architect meeting at the Old Jail was well attended.  Good things may come of this.

Bricks have been salvaged from a building being razed and are on-site at the Wiley House.  Boy Scouts have volunteered to clean the bricks in preparation to being put in place on the porch.

Pennies for the Porch donation jars have been placed at various locations around town to raise funds for renovation of the Wiley House.

The Noon Lions Club is having an auction at S & L Catering on November19.  Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.  Preview starts at 5:30 pm and the auction will start at 6:30 pm.

The Life food pantry has requested someone or a team to create a mural to brighten their I Street location.

New pictures are needed for Dunn Hospital.

February 20 is the date of the next LCCA concert.  The theme is Lawrence County.  Get your works of art ready!

Annette Pokorny will help with the geriatric watercolor classes.  One name suggested for the "geriatric group" was the GG's.

Mary Guthrie won the 50/50 drawing and donated the cash back to the group.

Motion was made to adjourn the meeting and seconded. Passed unanimously.

Respectfully submitted by Edie Craig, Secretary
